Carla S. Shore APR FCPRS has worked in the communications field for more than 20 years. She is an award-winning, dynamic public relations specialist with talent for planning, coordinating and executing successful communications campaigns. She has achieved the prestigious APR designation from the Canadian Public Relations Society, certifying her as an accredited public relations practitioner, and was named as a Fellow of the Society in 2013.
Trained as a journalist at Carleton University, she has parlayed her journalistic background into a talent for creating communications strategies that result in the right message hitting the right audience at the right time. A talented writer and editor, Carla’s extensive portfolio includes news releases, speeches, technical reports, blogs, newsletters, brochures, backgrounders, Websites, annual reports and news articles. She is particularly adept at translating subject-specific text into English.
Fluent in English and French, she is a tenacious publicist with a unique ability to generate media coverage to meet her clients’ qualitative and quantitative expectations. Her ability to manage issues and plan for crises is matched by her skill in training clients on how to deal with media. Not one to be left behind, she has kept up to date with technology and has hands-on experience using social media as strategic tools for engagement, publicity and community building.
Her career in Ontario and B.C. has included work with several federal government departments, provincial agencies, software companies, large corporations, PR agencies and non-profit groups. She is fortunate to have worked with a huge variety of industries, from finance to technology, from sustainability to consumer products, from mining to health, from youth to seniors, from construction to insurance. She also served as the Director of Communications for the Cohen Commission of Inquiry into the Decline of the Sockeye Salmon on the Fraser River. She has volunteered her professional services to many worthy organizations, most recently as a board member with Vancouver Farmers Markets and as a member of the Advisory Council of the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Women’s Leadership Circle.
Yvonne Brown is a media relations specialist with C-Shore Communications Inc. Her varied background includes many years’ experience as a senior communications and marketing manager with several high profile Vancouver non-profit arts organizations. She started her career as a journalist, working as a current affairs producer in radio. Yvonne has a Degree in Communications from SFU and a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from BCIT.
Yvonne is passionate about education and volunteers her writing and promotional expertise with two North Vancouver schools and the Museum of Vancouver.
